Domaine départemental de Sceaux - Musée et Parc
Domaine départemental de Sceaux - Musée et Parc Avenue Claude Perrault 92330 SCEAUX
Once owned by Colbert and then by his son the marquis de Seignelay, the Sceaux estate preserves memories of its glorious proprietors and of its designer André Le Nôtre. Today, whether one is a devotee of casual strolls, walking, running or exploring the countryside, Sceaux can meet every requirement in terms of recreational activity. Its 152 hectares with their topographical relief, their ornamental ponds and their diversity of woodlands offer a range of differing perspectives and, in their strictly drawn lines, a wide variety of views. The grounds are the starting point of the GR 11 walkers’ path which leads eventually to Neauphle, and welcome not only walkers by joggers, thanks to the 3 km sports circuit. Anglers and remote-controlled boat enthusiasts make good use of the 1 km long Grand Canal, and throughout the year the waterfalls (restored in 1992, sculptures by Rodin), are admired by all the park’s visitors.
